Shaquille O'Neal feels like one of our own here in Louisiana. Not only did he shine in his three years at LSU, but he owns a home in our state, and is frequently spotted around Acadiana, always happy to talk to friends and fans alike. We love the big guy, and consider him an honorary cajun.

And now the 7′ 1″ Hall of Fame member is trying his hand at a new sport, for him at least. For the first time ever, Shaq will be heading into the ring for his first match with All Elite Wrestling. O'Neal is an admitted lifelong superfan, but so far he has limited training in professional wrestling. That's not going to stop him, though, as he takes on his first competitive match on Wednesday’s episode of “Dynamite" on TNT. He'll tag team with Jade Cargill to take on Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

Cargill apparently laid down the gauntlet last year when he told Rhodes that O'Neal was the real "giant killer of pro wrestling". Shaq even responded on "Inside the  NBA" with an "any time, any place challenge" that led to the showdown this Wednesday. Shaq told the Associated Press, via WBRZ “I’m the type, I can never back down from a challenge, I’m not a professional wrestler, but I’ve been in a match before. I’ve got a lot of moves in my arsenal. When you step inside somebody’s world, you have to stick to what you’re masterful at."

Shaq has been by our radio station numerous times in the last couple of months, and we consider him to be part of our Louisiana family, so we are wishing him good luck in his new adventure tomorrow night!
