School Closures in Acadiana Following Hurricane Delta

With so much property damage in Acadiana along with many residents still without power, it is looking like many school systems will be closing school at least at the beginning of next week.

We will continuously update this story with the latest school closures for the week of October 12th for all Acadiana parish schools.

Acadia Parish schools will be closed Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

Iberia Parish schools will be closed Monday, October 12, 2020.

Jeff Davis Parish schools will be closed Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13.

Lafayette Parish School System will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2020.

Even though all schools are closed, all 244-day employees are to report to their school sites. Those include:

• School administrators
• All custodians
• All cafeteria personnel

Any employees unable to report to work should contact their immediate supervisor for instructions.

Diocese of Lafayette schools will be closed on Monday and some on Tuesday. Below is the list of closures.

Ascension Episcopal (all three campuses)

St. Landry Parish schools will be closed Monday, October 12, 2020. 12-month employees, administrators, cafeteria personnel, and custodians should report to work.

St. Martin Parish schools will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2020. All principals, custodians and 12-month employees report to work.

Vermilion Parish Superintendent Thomas Byler has announced that Vermilion Parish Public Schools and the Vermilion Parish School Board Central Offices will be closed on Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13. They will reopen on Wednesday, October 14.

All South Louisiana Community College campuses will be closed on Monday, October 12.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will reopen on Monday, October 12.
