Sam Smith, Tom Petty Reach Royalty Settlement [Video]

We often hear of court battles over song lyrics, melodies, and copyright infringement. This case was settled without a fight. Sam Smith's mega hit ''Stay With Me" is one of the biggest international hits of this past year. It apparently sounds just a little too much like Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down."  Petty's representatives contacted  their counterparts in the Sam Smith camp, and an amicable settlement was reached. Billboard.com reports an agreement has been cuts Petty and songwriting partner Jeff Lynne in on the royalties, and shares composer credit. Check it out for yourself below...
