Rig Evacuation    04-27-11
Everyone within a one mile radius of a natural gas well on
Bourque Road in Lafayette parish is being evacuated.  It
appears the well is spewing natural gas and HazMat crews
from the Lafayette Fire Department and State Police are
on the scene.  Again that rig is on Bourque Road near the
Lafayette / Vermilion Parish line and everyone within a one mile
radius is being evacuated.  According to State Trooper
Steven Hammond the following roads are closed
indefinitely:
Golden Grain at Fieldspan
Odessa at Sellers
Monte at Lagneaux
Bourque at Lagneaux
Denais at Leblanc
Hammond says residents of the evacuated area can check
in with the Red Cross and the Office of Emergency
Management at Judice Middle School for more
information.
