Megan Wyatt with the Advocate

Public access to Lake Martin was shut down earlier this year after a high court refused to hear a lawsuit pertaining to a business operating at Lake Martin on a public right-of-way. Since then, local landowners are worried about liability issues associated with the public using the lake adjacent to their property. (Read more on the lawsuits here)

I have been to Lake Martin on several occasions, and it must say that its beauty and serenity are quite calming to the soul.

It is my hope that a new agreement between the landowners and LDWF can happen in a way that allows natives and visitors alike to enjoy all that Lake Martin has to offer.

NOTE: The public boat launch is temporarily open, but there IS NO PUBLIC PARKING at the boat launch.
