Louisiana's Lottery luck continues to be hotter than a ripe Cayenne Pepper. The state's lottery players are smoking the big-money multi-state lottery games with wins in the past few days in both Mega Millions and Powerball.

Just yesterday we told you about the third Mega Millions jackpot win that has taken place over the last three drawings. Unfortunately, that $31 million dollar top prize from Tuesday's drawing was not won by a ticket sold in Louisiana. But, the state's lottery luck has been so good here lately, I doubt you'd find too many people complaining.

Last night's Powerball jackpot was reported to be an estimated $526 million dollars. Yeah, that is more than half a billion bucks. Here's how the drawing unfolded.

The numbers as confirmed by the Powerball website were:

09   17   20   38   40   Powerball 18  Powerplay x2

The Powerball website also confirms that no single ticket sold throughout the game's footprint matched the numbers needed to take home the top prize of an annuitized $526 million. If there had been a winner they might have also chosen to take the lump sum payment of $284 million.

Based on the information we've been able to glean from the Louisiana Lottery Website there were two big money-winning tickets sold in the state. In both cases, the ticket purchaser matched four of the five white ball numbers and the Powerball. However, one of the ticket purchasers opted in for Powerplay.

This means that one ticket sold in Louisiana for the January 25th Powerball drawing is valued at $50,000 while the other, that opted for the Powerplay is worth $100,000. The Louisiana Lottery has now confirmed the $100,000 winner was sold in Baton Rouge at a Circle K Store on Bluebonnet Boulevard. The Lottery has also confirmed the point of purchase for the $50,000 winner as well. that ticket was sold in Covington at a Racetrac Convenience Store on US 190.

As far as Easy 5 and Lotto from last night, there were no jackpot-winning tickets sold for either game. Those jackpots will continue to rise ahead of Saturday's drawings. Meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot will continue to grow as well. When the balls drop on Saturday the estimated top prize will be $572 million if you take the annuity or $308.9 million if you choose the lump sum amount.

Not-So-Nice Nicknames for 10 Louisiana Towns

Nicknames are a wonderful thing if you happen to be given the right one. That's the problem with nicknames, you don't get to pick your own. So, depending on the kind of people you hang out with your pseudonym is either a flattering referral to a trait you own. Or it's a sarcastic reminder of your shortcomings. The same rules apply when it comes to the nicknames we use for the communities we love. Although, from some of these nicknames, I'm not sure I can feel the love tonight, or any night for that matter.
