Authorities have arrested and are questioning a person of interest for the presumed homicide of Clayborn Pinder.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux reported 25-year-old Stoney Drake Bergeron was extradited from New Mexico where he was arrested after being stopped in the supposed murder victim's car.

On Sept. 7, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Pinder's home on Koch Road in St. Landry Parish following a call concerning his welfare.

Detectives found Pinder deceased in his living room. Thibodeaux said  the home appeared to have been broken into and Pinder's 2014 VW Passat was missing.

On Sept. 8, detectives learned the vehicle had been stopped in Texas three days before officers learned of the victim's death.

A warrant had been issued for Bergeron on charges of unauthorized use of a moveable vehicle. He was apprehended at a rest area in New Mexico and extradited back to St. Landry Parish.

Due to the professionalism by first responding deputies and investigators handling the case, I believe it is safe to say we will make an arrest for murder soon and have the evidence we need for a successful prosecution," -- Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Bergeron's bond for the unauthorized use of a moveable vehicle has been set at $6,000.  He is being held for questioning by detectives.
