Our Warmer, Wetter Than Normal Winter Means More Snakes This Spring

We experienced a warm and wet winter in Louisiana, and that means snakes will be aplenty around South Louisiana this Spring.

Owner of Virginia Wildlife Management Richard Perry tells WWBT that Louisiana and all of the U.S needs to be on snake watch.

Increased snake populations are expected.

Stanford University’s Grant Lipman and Caleb Phillips of the University of Colorado conducted a 20-year study on snake bites and found reported incidents of snake bites go up after rainy seasons.

Warmer and wetter winter seasons means there is more food for snakes. That means more breeding and obviously more snakes.
