Opelousas Man Charged With Treason, Attempted Murder
A St. Landry Parrish man faces multiple charges in connection with two separate shooting incidents. Opelousas police have arrested 29-year-old Kevin Vallian. He’s accused of firing 20 shots in the parking lot of the Opelousas Super Walmart on September 29. Vallian is also charged with leading Opelousas and Port Barre police on a high-speed chase on November 17.
He allegedly fled when officers tried to pull him over for speeding and fired at them. Vallian is a US Army reservist. He’s been booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail. Charges Include treason, four counts of attempted first-degree murder Of a police officer, aggravated criminal damage to property, illegal weapons possession, aggravated assault with a firearm, nine red light violations, and reckless operation. Vallian’s bail was set at $1.5 million.
