This is the official word from the Lafayette Parish School System:

"Superintendent Dr. Cooper, Assistant Superintendent Sandra Billeaudeau and others will monitor the weather impact on our schools and road conditions throughout today and the night.  The only reason we would close the entire district is if we are advised by legal authorities that there are significant road closures and/or power outages.  The leadership group will also assess the need to close individual schools if heating systems fail or water pipes break...  For now, all schools are scheduled to open for students on Tuesday, January 7th at its regular time."

We will keep you posted on any developments.
