When one door closes, another opens.

In this case, it's the same door on a building that has housed a few previous restaurants. Let's hope that the 3rd time is the charm.

A new restaurant is coming to a fairly busy intersection in Lafayette, replacing one that closed its doors months ago.

According to the crew from Developing Lafayette, the new restaurant coming to Lafayette will be opening on the corner of Congress and Ambassador Caffery.

The Soul Haus Kitchen will be taking up shop in the old Krystal Burger and Jambalaya Shoppe location, which is in the parking lot at the corner of Congress and Ambassador Caffery, between the gas station and Albertson's.

The Facebook page for Soul Haus Kitchen, as Developing Lafayette points out, says that the restaurant will offer daily plate lunches, along with boiled crawfish selections (in-season, of course), and Sunday BBQ.

Taking a quick look at the restaurant's menu posted by Developing Lafayette, you'll find traditional Acadiana plate lunch offerings: Red Beans and Rice (almost every day!), Meatball Stew, Fried Pork Chops, Fried Catfish, Shrimp, and Chicken, Smothered Chicken, and Stuffed Turkey Wings.

Of course, the plate lunches come with two sides and bread or cornbread.

I would guess that this location would do well, even though it has some competition in the vicinity with Noah's being the closest (I can think of at this time) near the corner of Ambassador and Dulles.

I'm looking forward to stopping in to try their Meatball Stew (one of my plate lunch go-to menu items), as Developing Lafayette is reporting that the restaurant hopes to be open by the end of August.
