I think it is safe to say that we all remember Hurricane Katrina hitting the Gulf Coast in 2005.

This was one of the worst hurricanes to hit the Gulf Coast in quite some time and earned the title of the fourth most intense Atlantic hurricane on record. Hurricane Katrina was also responsible for over 1,800 deaths and $125 billion in damages.

Over the years there have been several documentaries made about Hurricane Katrina and the complete and utter disaster that she left behind. However, there is a new documentary that is coming out that focuses on something that hasn’t been covered yet.

The children of Hurricane Katrina.

This new documentary is called “Katrina Babies” and it takes a look at the children of the storm. This documentary will tell the story of the children who lived through Hurricane Katrina who are now adults.

Many of these people have not had the opportunity to share their stories or talk about what they witnessed and lived through in the days, weeks, months, and even years after Hurricane Katrina.

The documentary, by director Edward Buckles Jr., "offers an intimate look at the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and its impact on the youth of New Orleans," according to the network.

Edward Buckles Jr. is a first-time filmmaker, but is also from New Orleans and was 13 years old at the time of Hurricane Katrina. Buckles has spent seven years documenting the stories that are showcased in this documentary and is proud of the work he has put together.
Katrina Babies will debut on August 24, 2022, on HBO.
