Mass Of Remembrance Set For Tonight In Lafayette
How do you speak about the unspeakable? That's a question that has been bouncing between my ears ever since the news broke about mass shootings in El Paso Texas and Dayton Ohio over the weekend.
Actually, it's the same conversation I've had in my head over 250 times since the first of this year. That's how many times our nation has been jolted by news of a mass shooting.
Tonight the Diocese of Lafayette hopes to open the lines of speech and communication about one of our nation's biggest social issues while at the same time offering a time to reflect on the lives that were lost over the weekend. The Diocese is hosting a Mass of Remembrance at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette.
The Mass is scheduled to begin at 5:30. The Mass is open to members of all faiths and will be live-streamed over the Internet for those that cannot attend in person.
Maybe, the only way we can truly speak about the unspeakable in our hearts is through quiet and thoughtful moments of prayer. Let us hope our prayers for peace in our nation will be answered.
