(Lafayette, Louisiana) - With Easter approaching, many are planning what to grill this Sunday and where to host the annual Easter egg hunt, but the weather may impede your plans in South Louisiana.

Easter Sunday is often one of the most beautiful days of the year as families come together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and those celebrations are often held outdoors under beautiful blue skies.

As a matter of fact, I can't recall having an Easter Sunday washout in recent years, but that could change this year.

Much of Louisiana is under drought-like conditions, and while we need the rain, we just don't want it to interfere with our Easter plans this year. Well, I am here to share the extended forecast with you for Acadiana, and there's a chance that strong storms could move into Acadiana on Easter morning.

So, if you are planning to grill or host an Easter egg hunt, you may have to alter your plans early Sunday morning. A lot of families will also be on the roads to attend church services or visit with family, and you should be "weather aware" this Easter Sunday.

Llike many of you, I hope the storms move through the area Sunday morning quickly so we can resume our plans outdoors, but the ground willl be wet, so plan ahead if you're going to let the kids loose in the yard to find the hidden eggs.

Now, we are a few days out from Easter, so this extended forecast could change, and the timing of the storm arrival could change, too. If there's any good to come with these storms later this weekend, it's that they will bring some much-needed rain to the area, and temperatures at night will be much cooler once again.

As for Good Friday, the extended forecast does have rain moving in, but it does not appear that it willl be a complete washout for your fish fries or crawfish boils.

If anything changes in the forecast as we approach Easter, we will provide you with the latest on-air and on this station's mobile app. Make sure you have the alerts on so that you can receive the latest updates.
