Much of Louisiana is anticipating a major cold front by Wednesday and with that will come strong winds and low humidity levels for much of the state.

We have not seen much rain in recent weeks as the front approaches the area, thus the National Weather Service has issued a fire watch for part of the state.

According to their press release, a Fire Weather Watch will be in effect starting Wednesday morning and into Wednesday evening. Areas under the watch in Louisiana will include The Central and Southwestern portions of the state.

You are encouraged to not burn anything during this very dry and windy day, and if you see an open fire you should notify local authorities.

Wind gusts on Wednesday, as the front moves in, are expected to be 15-20 mph. Any open fire will spread quickly due to the dry conditions in the state.

We know that it will be tempting to light the fire pits as we experience our first strong cold front of the season, but you are encouraged to wait until conditions improve and until the area gets some much-needed rain.

You should share this reminder with friends and family on social media so that they too are aware of the dangerous threat by mid-week.
