(Lafayette, Louisiana)—A line of potentially severe thunderstorms will move into Louisiana for Memorial Day.

While many of you may be planning to be outdoors today for Memorial Day, we want to share what our friend Daniel Phillips posted Monday morning.

A line of storms in Texas will push further southward, and the Acadiana region could experience another round of severe weather after noon. Strong winds will be the primary concern as these storms move into Louisiana, but you can't rule out storms with deadly lightning.

Unfortunately, this is just the beginning of thunderstorms in Acadiana. Rain is in the forecast for much of the week.

So, if you're planning on being outdoors today for the day off, please be weather aware. If you hear thunder, remember that lightning is in the vicinity.

We will continue to monitor the conditions throughout the day, and if there are any updates or alerts you need to be aware of, we will share them here and on this station's mobile app.

Here's the extended forecast for the rest of the week. As you can see, we should prepare for rain for much of the week.

Get your outdoor chores done soon.
