Summer in the Deep South is officially over and soon it will feel every bit like Fall.

For months many of us in South Louisiana have been hoping for cooler days and with the front approaching soon we will have what we've been waiting for, much cooler mornings and days.

A cold front is expected to sweep across Louisiana by Wednesday, increasing the chances of scattered showers, but by Thursday morning you will actually "feel Fall."

This cold front could come at a better time for those in Louisiana because it will steer a potentially major hurricane away from the "Bayou State." Still, it will unfortunately push the potential storm, which may be a major hurricane, towards Florida by the end of this week.

So if you've been wanting cooler days, you can expect temperatures in Acadiana to drop into the mid-to-upper 60s each morning as we wrap up the work week, and expect cooler and drier air by the weekend.

Is Gumbo weather back in Acadiana? I think it is and perhaps we are now done talking about heat indices and for those of us who enjoy being outdoors on the patio, conditions seem to soon be much more favorable for us.

Now, I don't think you'll need to take out the space heaters or warm blankets, but soon we will feel a difference in the air, and perhaps an even stronger cold front will follow what's to come this week.

As for hurricanes, don't be fooled by the cooler days and nights in Acadiana, Hurricane Season does not officially end until the end of November.

Here's a look at KATC's extended forecast.
