Louisiana Should Expect More Heavy Storms on Wednesday, April 23
(Lafayette, Louisiana)—We've reached the middle of the work week, and the Acadiana region is expected to experience more showers.
Yesterday, storms in Acadiana produced a couple of inches of rain and small hail, and today's forecast may repeat Tuesday's.
Louisiana will be under a slight risk for severe weather, which means some of the storms may produce heavy rain, hail, and damaging winds.
The good news is, the storms will be scattered and they should move out of the area during the early evening hours, just as Festival International kicked off in downtown Lafayette.

Flash flooding will be a concern as scattered storms could drop a couple of inches of rain in the area, so if you are in an area that is prone to flooding, be weather-aware later today. Storms are expected to start showing up in Acafiana between noon to 7 pm.
If you're planning on attending Festival Internacional this weekend, the rain chances will diminish, but it will be hot. Temperatures this weekend will feel very summer-like as temperatures are expected to reach into the upper 80s.
So, if you and the kids are heading to the festival this weekend in Lafayette, bring plenty of sunscreen and water; you'll need it.
We will continue to monitor the weather conditions in Acadiana, and if there's anything you need to be aware of, we'll have details here and on-air throughout the afternoon.
Take a look at the graphic below, and you can see which areas of the state are most likely to receive an excessive amount of rainfall on Wednesday. Again, this will not be widespread, but the scattered storms may drop a few inches of rain in isolated areas.
