(KTDY) - A winning Powerball ticket in Louisiana will soon expire if someone doesn't claim the huge prize.

Life can be very busy at times, and we often forget to check over many thiings, and that includes the Powerball tickets we purchase. How many times have you purchased lottery tickets only to find them weeks later, and you haven't even checked the numbers? I am guilty.

Well, a $50,000 Powerball ticket in Louisiana will soon expire if no one claims the prize. Yes, someone in the "Bayou State" could be $50,000 rciher today, and they don't even know it because they've yet to come forward to claim the winnings.

The winning Powerball ticket was reportedly sold in Gretna at Time Saver Gretna on Behrman Highway. If you're from Gretna or were driving through and purchased a Powerball ticket for the Sept. 2, 2025, drawing, you may want to check the numbers on your ticket.

The winning numbers for that drawing were:  3, 16, 29, 61, 69, and Powerball 22.

The $50,000 winning ticket will expire on March 2, 2026, if no one claims the prize. Could you imagine winning $50,000 for it only to fade away because you didn't claim it in time? I'd be sick for years knowing that I let that much money get away.

Again, if you were in the Gretna area in late August or early September of 2025 and purchased Powerball tickets, check your tickets as you could be the big winner. The clock is ticking on claiming this massive prize.

What Happens to Money Unclaimed in Lottery

According to the Louisiana Lottery, unclaimed money is returned to the Lottery's unclaimed prize fund, which is then distributed to players through increased payouts on instant-win tickets, second-chance drawings, and other player promotions.
