Law enforcement officials were made aware of the contents of a package, and they watched as that package was being delivered on Monday, August 28. After the package was delivered, two people ended up being arrested according to myarklamiss.com.

Surveillance members say they saw US postal carrier, 31-year-old Willie Woodard, give 27-year-old Leonterrius D. Smith a package containing marijuana.

Louisiana State Police say when Smith took the package and drove off they conducted a routine traffic stop. They found a marijuana package in the trunk.

Authorities say when they talked to the postman, Woodard, he allegedly admitted he would drop off two boxes of marijuana to Smith each month.

The investigation is ongoing. Both men were arrested.

Smith was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm or Carrying a Concealed Weapon by a Convicted Felon
  • Attempt
  • Conspiracy

Woodard was charged with the following:

  • Attempt
  • Conspiracy
