Much of South Louisiana was under water Wednesday morning after storms dumped several inches of rain.

Several drivers had to be rescued from their vehicles as water rose quickly, while schools in Lafayette Parish closed due to flooded roadways.

Some photos on social media showed water seeping into schools, homes, and businesses early Wednesday morning, but luckily, the water receded quickly in most areas.

In Carencro, Louisiana, several roads were under water and one man used the high water levels for enjoyment. Our media partners at KATC TV-3 came across a man named George who was able to enjoy a ride in his recently purchased boat.

While some may have found the high water in Carencro to be a problem, George didn't seem to be bothered by it, and he simply took his boat out for a ride.

Carencro residents tell KATC that they are concerned about drainage in their community and hope that local officials can do more to improve draining =in their neighborhoods.

The National Weather Service said the rain event most received on Wednesday morning was a 20-year rain event. Let's just hope we don't have to experience more flooding in our area for quite some time.

Here's the report from Carencro after the rain stopped, and the water remained.
