Officials with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office say they have made an arrest after there was a shooting that happened Sunday afternoon in Centerville.

At around 1 o'clock yesterday, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's deputies were called out to a home in Centerville to make a welfare concern check.

At a camper that was at that home, deputies found a man who had been shot. The man was taken to the hospital and then had to be flown to another medical facility for treatment.

Deputies say they arrested 51-year-old Roderick Beauregard Rodriguez of Centerville on a charge of Attempted Second-Degree Murder in connection with the shooting of the victim.

Deputies say as they continued to investigate the shooting incident, they developed Rodriguez as a suspect in the shooting.

Officials say the man was booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, and a judge later set the man's bail at $500,000.

As far as the circumstances that led up to the shooting incident, officials are not giving any information about the situation.
