Louisiana Department Of Wildlife And Fisheries Now Accepting Applications For Alligator Hunters
If you've ever wanted to get your Troy Landry on and "Choot Em", the Louisiana Department Of Wildlife and Fisheries is currently accepting applications for alligator hunters to conduct lottery hunts on 46 state and federally owned properties and lakes. That's a lot of tree shakers.
Different areas of Louisiana have different needs as far as alligator hunters, and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has posted a map including applicant success rates for the 2016 lottery on their website, www.wlf.louisiana.gov.
According to nola.com "Applications must include a $5, and be submitted by July 5. They are available at www.wlf.louitiana.gov/hunting/lottery-hunts or by calling 337-373-0032 or 225-765-2346".
The alligator season for 2017 will run August 30th through October 5th.
The requirements for the job state that applicants must be Louisiana residents, at least 16 years of age and comply with hunter education requirements.
The education requirements listed at www.wlf.louisiana.gov state "Persons born on or after September 1, 1969 must have successfully completed an approved hunter education course OR be under the direct supervision of a person: 1) who was born before September 1, 1969 and who has a valid hunting license or 2) who is at least 18 years old and has successfully completed an approved hunter education course".
