Thunderstorms swept across south Louisiana Thursday evening and some produced deadly lightning a homeowner in Denham Springs found out how bad it was after their home was hit by lightning.

Storms can cool temperatures down during the summer months, but thunderstorms during the summertime can also produce deadly lightning and damaging winds as air masses collide.

On Thursday evening we could see storms approaching and after hearing the thunder roar, I knew that we were about to get some deadly lightning in the area, and that is what we got in Acadiana and southeast Louisiana.

A video circulating on social media shows lightning hitting a house in Denham Springs as storms moved across the area Thursday, and we may see more storms Friday.

Remember, if you hear thunder in the area, there's lightning and you should seek shelter immediately.

Never put yourself or others at risk if storms are approaching and there's thunder in the distance.
