“After consulting with the Sheriff, our Police and Fire Chiefs, and Lafayette Parish Mayors, I’ve determined the nightly curfew is no longer necessary.”

Those were the words of Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory in a press release today as he announces the lifting of the parish-wide curfew for unaccompanied minors beginning TONIGHT. The curfew has been in place since March 16.

This announcement comes as Lafayette parish is reporting fewer COVID-19 cases. In Thursday's release from the Louisiana Department of Health, for instance, Lafayette Parish reported six new cases since Wednesday's report.

"Although the situation continue to improve, I encourage citizens to take the necessary steps to stay safe - wash hands frequently, remain home when sick, and wear a mask when social distancing isn't possbile."

Citizens experiencing COVID-19 symptoms can call 311, option 1 or 337-534-TEST to get information about COVID-19 testing sites in the parish.
