St. Martin Parish Sheriff's deputies were called out to St. Martinville Senior High School yesterday morning after one of the students had posted videos on social media showing him with a gun.

The videos show this student showing the gun while they were on the school bus and one of the classrooms.

Investigators say the student has been charged with the following:

  1. R.S.-14:95.2-1-count-Carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon by a student or non-student on school property, at school sponsored functions, or in a firearm free zone. (Felony)

The arrest came yesterday afternoon.

After being booked into the jail, the student was turned over to his parents.

Major Ginny Higgins says anytime someone has information about questionable or dangerous behavior, there are a variety of ways to let someone know what is happening.

Higgins suggests the following:

  • You can call 911
  • You can call the Sheriff's Office
  • You can send a message via the Facebook page of the St. Martin Sheriff's Office
  • You can tell someone in authority
  • You can talk to any school's Resource Officer

Higgins says just tell someone, and you don't have to identify yourself if you don't want to.
