Jerry Seinfeld Will Be the First Temporary Co-Host After Regis Philbin Leaves ‘Live’
A new, permanent co-host hasn’t been named yet to replace Regis Philbin after he leaves ‘Live! with Regis & Kelly,’ so a rotating panel of celebrities will serve as guest host. First up: Jerry Seinfeld.
The comic will host the show, which will be renamed ‘Live with Kelly’ for the time being, November 21-23. No other co-hosts have been named yet, though people who have filled in for Regis over the years will probably show up at some point, including Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos, Anderson Cooper, Bravo’s Andy Cohen, ‘Survivor’s’ Jeff Probst, and ‘Saturday Night Live’s’ Seth Meyers.
Some of the guests will be trying out for the permanent position while on the air. There’s no timetable yet on when a new co-host will be named but it probably won’t be until 2012.
Regis Philbin’s last day on ‘Live with Regis & Kelly’ is Friday, November 18. After hosting the show for almost 25 years, Philbin couldn’t come to an agreement on a new contract and decided to leave the show.
Philbin hasn’t announced his next TV move, but he is writing an autobiography that should be in stores next year.
