RAYNE, La. (KPEL News) - One of the most iconic buildings in Rayne is currently on fire, according to multiple reports and social media posts.

Farmer’s True Value hardware store in Rayne is one of the most well-known historic buildings in the community. But a fire there has forced an evacuation and caused other nearby buildings to close down as well.

Folks in the community have been posting pictures from the scene since the fire was first reported.

Here's what we know, via our news partners at KATC.

City officials have confirmed that Farmer's True Value Hardware, located at 200 South Adams Street in Rayne, is on fire.

The streets surrounding the building are closed at this time, according to police.

The mayor says the building is more than 100 years old.
