Bicyclist Hit by Truck on Major Lafayette Thoroughfare
Information is just coming in about a traffic situation on a major Lafayette Street. Sergeant Robin Green with the Lafayette Police Department confirms that their traffic officers have responded to a crash involving a bicyclist. A listener says it appeared that the bicyclist was hit by a truck with a trailer. The bicyclist was sitting on the side of the road.
Where Did This Happen?
Sergeant Green says this happened in the 4600 block of Johnston Street. This is the area of Johnston Street just down from Lana Drive. And to narrow it down further, the crash happened on Johnston Street between Lana Drive and Grand Avenue. The Traffic is backing up at this time.
What Happened?
Green says while they don't have all of the details to release she can confirm for us that the bicyclist did receive a citation. Green says officers on the scene determined that it was the bicyclist who was responsible for causing the collision. The bicyclist is dealing with minor injuries due to today's traffic incident.
