Target Ending Major Money Saving Perk For Shoppers

(KMDL-FM)  According to our online sources, there are 1,981 Target stores in the United States. Of those 1,981 stores, 158 of them are in Texas in cities such as Beaumont, Houston, Bryan/College Station, Denton, and Waco. Louisiana pales in comparison as far as the number of stores compared to Texas.

In Louisiana, there are only 16 Target stores in the state. Those stores are in the state's major cities such as New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Shreveport. Many of those larger communities have more than one location of the giant retailer.

Target has built its reputation on offering quality merchandise at a low price. Many shoppers consider the "Bullseye Brand" to be of slightly better quality than that of Walmart, and if not a higher quality, at least a retailer of "higher customer standards".

What Is The Major Pricing Policy Change That Target is Making at Its Stores?

We are now learning that Target is taking steps to end a practice that many of its customers have grown to love and utilize to save money over the years. The practice of price matching at Target is going by the wayside.

The change in price match protocol will go into effect as of July 28th. What that means is that Target will no longer offer shoppers who find a better price on an identical item at Walmart, Amazon, Target.com, or through a Target Circle Deal a price match on that item.

Under current policy, price matches could be requested at the time of purchase are within 14 days of making the purchase. Some restrictions apply if the item was sold through a third-party vendor. Or if the item was offered at a lower price on one of the competing companies' websites.

What Items Qualify For Price Matching At Target Stores?

We should note that price matching was only allowed if the items were identical with the same brand name, size, weight, color, quantity, and model number. So, there were a lot of "hoops" you'd have to jump through to get the price match, but many shoppers saved a lot of money by doing the extra legwork and comparing prices.

Before you start giving Target grief for their policy change, you should know they are among the last of the large retailers to make this change in price matching. Walmart discontinued its price match policy back in 2019. Amazon does not offer price matching at all.

Remember the current Target price match policy will remain in effect through July 28th, so you still have a few days to take advantage of it, if you choose to do so.
