(Baton Rouge, LA) Our sources at Powerball say the Labor Day night drawing in that multi-state lottery game created at least a dozen new millionaires across the Powerball footprint. Our sources at the Louisiana Lottery have also confirmed some major cash prize wins as a result of Monday's drawing.

Speaking of Powerball, we do have some unfinished business from Saturday's drawing. In that game, we reported to you that there was a $50,000 winning ticket sold. We now have confirmation that the ticket was sold at Best Stop #46 in Ponchatula, Louisiana.

Incidentally, if you played Powerball in Zachary, Louisiana, on August 16th, you might want to check your tickets. A $50,000 winner sold at Circle K on Highway 19 has yet to be claimed.  There is also an Easy 5 winner that is set to expire today. That $60,000 winner was sold at the Delta Mini Mart in Farmerville for the March 5th drawing.

According to our sources at Powerball, just before the ping pong balls dropped out of the hopper last night, the jackpot in the multi-state lottery game was listed at $1.201 billion. Here is how the drawing played out for Monday, September 1, 2025.

As we've mentioned, there were over a dozen new millionaires made by last night's drawing. There were some big winners in Louisiana, too. But none of those winning tickets matched all the numbers needed to claim the Powerball jackpot prize of over $1.2 billion.

Did Anyone Win The Powerball Jackpot on Monday Night?

A Match 5 Million win, where the ticket matches all five of the white balls but not the Powerball, occurred on Monday night in California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia,  and with two winning tickets sold in New Jersey.

There were Match 5 Million wins with Power Play that happened in Montana and North Carolina. In the case where a Powerball ticket matches all five of the white balls and has the Power Play option included on their ticket, the prize is $2 million.

Based on statistics provided by the Louisiana Lottery, there were 18,613 winning tickets sold in Louisiana for Monday's Powerball. 8,562 of those winners had their money multiplied because they opted for the Power Play function of the game. Here are the numbers from Monday's Powerball drawing:

What Were The Powerball Lottery Numbers on Monday Night?

08   23   25   40   53   Powerball 05    Power Play x3

Louisiana's biggest wins came on two tickets that both matched four of five white balls and the Powerball. One ticket had the Power Play; the other did not. The prizes were $50,000 for the non-Power Play winner and $150,000 for the ticket with Power Play. Those results sure make spending that extra dollar seem worth it, don't they?

In Louisiana, 37 state-sold tickets won a prize of $300, while another 67 earned a prize of $100. The Powerball lottery will draw again on Wednesday night. The estimated top prize at the time of that drawing is $1.3 billion for the annuitized jackpot. If you win and want the cash payout, your winnings would be an estimated $589.0 million.
