One of Louisiana's favorite places to spend Memorial Day Weekend is without a doubt Orange Beach, Alabama.

Just a little under 5 hours away, countless holidays of fun in the sun have been had by folks from Acadiana for decades.

If your Memorial Day Holiday plans do include a trip to Orange Beach this year, The Alabama Department of Transportation has just made an important announcement you need to know about.

It's a good news/bad news kinda thing, but if you plan accordingly, everything will work out just fine.

Known for its stunning white sandy beaches, clear blue waters, and abundant outdoor recreational activities, Orange Beach is a popular vacation destination for beach lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Orange Beach is a favorite vacation spot for Louisianians for many different reasons.

Fishing, water sports, dinning, State Parks, and obviously the beaches are all just a slice of what keeps up going back year after year.

In 2000, The Foley Beach Express Bridge was opened providing a quicker trip to the beach.

Now it seems you'll no longer have to pay a toll when traveling to Orange Beach.

According to "The state of Alabama bought the Foley Beach Express Bridge in Orange Beach and announced Thursday that there will no longer be any tolls for travelers."

No tolls is a great thing, but if you're traveling to Orange Beach this Memorial Day Weekend, you're going to need to leave a little earlier than normal.

Temporary Traffic Plan Details:

Date of Implementation: Starting at noon on May 23, 2024.

Traffic Flow: Traffic control devices will be deployed to guide drivers through the existing plaza, maintaining one lane open in each direction.

Speed Limits: Motorists are advised to adhere to reduced speed limits in the vicinity of the plaza during this period.

Duration: The temporary traffic plan will be in place until ALDOT starts toll plaza demolition in the coming weeks.
