Popular Pepper Recalled After Rodent Allegedly Found in Jar
(KMDL-FM) The United States Food and Drug Administration and G.L. Mezzetta Inc. have announced a recall of a popular brand of peppers manufactured by the company. The recall affects Mezzetta Brand Golden Greek Peperoncini. The concern raised by the recall is over the presence of a pest contaminant in the jar.
What Are Peperoncini Peppers?
Peperoncini peppers are quite popular in Louisiana houses and kitchens. The peppers provide a bit of spice and a touch of heat, which pairs well with many Louisiana recipes. However, if you happen to have this particular product in your home, you will want to check the labels because what we are about to tell you is disgusting.
According to a video on the social media platform TikTok, the catalyst that spurred the recall was this video. That video shows an individual using the product while cooking, and they also show what appears to be a dead rodent in the jar with the food product.

We can neither confirm nor deny the authenticity of the video; what we do know is that the company and the FDA are taking the concerns seriously. So, if you have the following product in your home, you are asked not to use it. (Note: we have depicted the 16 oz jar; the recall is on the 32 oz jar)
What Do The Recalled Peperoncini Peppers Look Like?
According to the recall notice from the FDA, if you have the product (32 oz jar), you are asked to contact Mezetta via CustomerSupport@Mezzetta.com. There was no telephone number listed for consumers to contact the company directly via that method.
