Louisiana’s Best Spot for Skinny Dipping Is Closer Than You Think

The act of sneaking into a body of water, usually after dark, while not wearing any clothes at all. It's skinny dipping. And if you've ever done it then you know the thrill and exhilaration of being at one with the water and an even bigger thrill and exhilaration that you might get caught.

In this day and age where swimsuits on a public beach are a little more than three dime-sized pieces of fabric and some dental floss you'd think "being naked" would have lost some of its thrill, but it hasn't. People still love the "adventure" of being without clothes in a place where clothes are supposed to be worn.

Since we are just finishing National Nude Recreation Week we thought we'd look further into the aspect of "occasional nudity in places where it's not expected". And while we are against the concept of being naked and being weird, we do embrace the idea of a nice relaxing swim without the encumbered feeling of the built-in underwear in the swimsuit putting certain parts of the anatomy in a stranglehold, if you know what I mean.

Naturally, if you have a private pool you have a place where skinny dipping is probably not that big of a deal. But what if you wanted that extra thrill of "getting caught"? The website My Dating Advisor has created a list of what they call the "Best Places to Skinny Dip in Each State".

In Alabama, they direct you to the beaches of Dauphin Island. For Mississippi, it's another Gulf of Mexico Island, Horn Island that gets the call. In Texas, the site suggests an au naturel dip in Hamilton Pool which is near Pedernales Falls State Park. And in Arkansas, the site suggests you doff your duds and drop in for a dip at Lake Ouachita. 

Where Is the Best Place to Skinny Dip in Louisiana?

According to the website My Dating Advisor they suggest you drop your drawers and dive on in at Palmetto State Park in the warm waters of Lake Verret. The site suggests the park's secluded beaches offer the privacy you'll want with the thrill you are seeking.

Hang on, isn't Lake Verret in Assumption Parish? That's a hell of a way to go just to swim naked. We think the website got the lake's name wrong. But there are several bodies of water at Palmetto Island State Park you could try. There is the Evangeline Pond, Eagle Pond, and Lake Lafleur.

We should note that the park does not foster the idea of skinny dipping. In fact, they don't really mention nudity on their website at all. But then again what fun is skinny dipping if you have permission, right? But that's a call you'll have to make because it could lead to an embarrassing conversation with a Park Ranger or Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Deputy.

Then again there are some of the park's other inhabitants that might make your adventure less fun and more of a nightmare. There could be alligators. We know there will be snakes and mosquitoes too. So, let's just say swim at your own risk. And wear what you think is appropriate you don't want some creature mistaking you or any of your body parts for bait.

But on the positive side, it would sure make those "tick checks" a lot easier since you wouldn't have to remove clothing to check those smaller cracks and crevices where those blood suckers like to hide.
