Louisiana Powerball Winner Confirmed in Wednesday’s Drawing
(Baton Rouge, LA) There was a big win in Louisiana in last night's drawing of the Powerball Lottery game. The Powerball game is a Louisiana favorite and just recently made a player in Thibodaux $100,000 richer and a player in Lafayette $50,000 richer.
As the Lottery's marketing slogan suggests, "there's always a Reason to smile", and last night in Louisiana, a Powerball player was given $50,000 reasons to smile when their ticket matched four of the five white ball numbers and the Powerball.

In order to play and win at Powerball, a player must invest $2 in a ticket, or $3 if they want to add the Power Play option to their chances of winning. The player selects five numbers that range between 1 and 69. The player also selects a Powerball number, which is the red ball; those numbers range between 1 and 26.
Powerball holds three weekly drawings. There is a drawing on Saturday night, one on Monday night, and as we've just concluded, a drawing on Wednesday night. And no, we can't tell you which night "your ticket" is most likely to hit. History tells us that most winning jackpots come from Saturday's drawing, but that's because the game has always featured its Saturday games since its inception.
How Much Was the Powerball Jackpot on Wednesday Night?
Here is how the Powerball drawing for August 13, 2025, unfolded.
The announced jackpot prize prior to last night's drawing was $530.9 million. There were no tickets sold across the Powerball footprint that matched the necessary numbers to claim that prize.
There were three Match 5 Million winners sold for Wednesday's Powerball game. Those tickets were sold in Texas, Oregon, and New Hampshire. The largest prize won by a Louisiana-sold ticket was the $50,000 winner that matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball.
The Louisiana Lottery did confirm that a little more than 5,000 Louisiana Powerball players earned their money back plus an additional two dollars in last night's game. The Power Play numbers show that about a third of all winners in the state had their prize tripled by invoking the Power Play option for Wednesday's drawing.

Much to my surprise, there was no winner in Lotto, so that game will continue to grow its jackpot. When they draw again for Lotto on Saturday, the top prize will be an estimated $1.675 million.

The other Wednesday draw game, Easy 5, which is fresh off of $60,000 on Saturday, will draw for another $60,000 prize. By the way, the Saturday winner in Easy 5 came from West Monroe. So, if you played Easy 5 and you live in that part of the state, check your tickets.
