Lafayette Store Sold $100,000 Powerball Ticket Monday

(KMDL-FM) Usually on Wednesday mornings, the lottery spotlight falls on the multi-state draw game, Mega Millions, and while there was a drawing in that game on Tuesday night, Louisiana players are still talking about Monday's Powerball drawing.

In that Powerball drawing on Monday, the Louisiana Lottery has now confirmed that a $100,000 ticket was sold in Lafayette, and a $50,000 winner from that same drawing was purchased at the popular Rouses grocery store chain.

$100,000 Powerball Winner Sold in Lafayette - Where Was it Sold?

In both cases, the winning tickets matched four of the five white balls and the red Powerball. In the case of the Lafayette ticket, the $100,000 winner, the player opted to spend the extra dollar for the game's Power Play feature, which is why, even though the number-match scenarios were the same, one ticket paid twice as much as the other.

Louisiana Lottery officials confirmed to us that the $100,000 winning ticket sold in Lafayette was purchased at Royal Food Store, which is located at 3928 West Congress Street in Lafayette. As the retailer that sold a large lottery winner, they will receive a "commission" for selling the winning ticket.

The $50,000 winner was sold at the Rouses Market on Highway 59 in Mandeville, Louisiana. Rouses has been on a bit of a hot streak with big lottery wins. It wasn't that long ago that another winning ticket sold in Lafayette was purchased at a Rouses Market.
