Louisiana’s Hubig’s Pies Unveils First Ever King Cake
Gulf Coast legend Hubig's Pies opened in 1921 in New Orleans, Louisiana. In their 104 year history, Hubig's Pies has never released a Mardi Gras king cake...until now.
And no, it's not a pie.
Hubig's Pies New Orleans Louisiana
Hubig's Pies are a true New Orleans classic.
They’ve been around since the 1920s, when Simon Hubig first started baking them.
While the original company began in Texas, it was the New Orleans bakery that really made these hand-sized, fruit-filled treats famous.
People loved their flaky crusts and simple but delicious flavors like apple, peach, lemon, chocolate, and even seasonal options like sweet potato.
In 2012, a fire destroyed the factory in the Marigny neighborhood, and production came to a sudden stop. Fans were heartbroken—Hubig’s Pies had been a part of life in Louisiana for generations.
It took 10 years, but Hubig's made their triumphant return in 2022.
