Mega Millions Win – Louisiana Lottery Confirms Single Ticket Wins $533 Million

(KMDL-FM) Just yesterday, we were lamenting with you about the current state of lottery jackpots available in Louisiana. The Powerball game recently had a winner, so that jackpot is climbing. The Lotto and Easy 5 jackpots here in Louisiana are nice and "full", if you know what I mean. But the biggie, as far as big money jackpots, was the sole domain of Mega Millions. The game's jackpot was estimated to be in excess of $533 million.

Mega Millions has not been the kindest of lottery games to Louisiana players. Granted, we did have a $20,000 win in this past Friday's Mega Millions drawing. That ticket was sold in Covington, Louisiana. But the game has never produced a jackpot win in Louisiana.

How Long Have Mega Millions and Powerball Been Available in Louisiana?

We have been playing Mega Millions in Louisiana since November 2011. By contrast, the Powerball game has been a fixture in the state since 1995. Louisiana has had several Powerball jackpot winners, but never had the big money ticket for Mega Millions.

Mega Millions Jackpot Estimated to be $533 Million for March 10, 2026, Drawing

Which is a shame because Mega Millions got a jackpot winner on Tuesday night. The top prize on offer was an estimated annuitized top prize of $533 million. Here is how that drawing played out.

Mega Millions changed the format of the way the game is played about a year ago. It was the first week in April of 2025 that Mega Millions went to the $5 ticket. It also eliminated the need to purchase the "Megaplier Option". Now each ticket comes with a randomly assigned multiplier that can be anywhere from "x2" to "x10" on any given win.

Based on our insider information from Mega Millions and confirmed by our sources inside the Louisiana Lottery, last night's big money winner, the ticket that matched all the numbers, including the Mega Ball, was sold in Illinois.

Another ticket sold in Illinois also won a Match 5 Million. That means the ticket matched all five white balls but missed the gold Mega Ball. By rule that prize is one million dollars. But because Mega Millions randomly assigns a multiplier, in the case of that ticket, the prize was multiplied by 5 for a confirmed win of $5,000,000.00

A ticket sold in Maryland also hit the Match 5 Million. Their multiplier was only times 2. So, we can confirm that the Maryland ticket was a $2 million winner in Tuesday's game.

The Louisiana Lottery confirmed to us that the largest prize earned by a Louisiana-sold ticket for Tuesday's drawing was $1,500. That ticket matched four of the white balls and had a multiplier assigned of x3. Now that doesn't mean there weren't winning tickets sold in the state, it just means that most of the prizes were in the $10 and $20 range, which isn't bad for a $5 investment.

How Much is the Powerball Jackpot for Wednesday, March 11, 2026?
