Jason Aldean Goes Gator Hunting in Cajun Country Before Cajundome Show
CATAHOULA, La. (KMDL-FM) - Everyone knows Jason Aldean is playing the Cajundome in Lafayette tonight as part of his Full Throttle Tour, but not everyone knew the country superstar was in Acadiana yesterday.
What the heck was Jason Aldean doing in Cajun Country a day early? That's simple, fulfilling a lifelong dream: gator hunting.
You may have seen pictures floating around social media of Jason hanging out at Red's Levee Bar in Catahoula. Yes, those were legit as he was hanging with his new BFF, Liz Higginbotham, the manager (and Queen) of Red's.
This was all after a day of alligator hunting. We connected with Queen Liz to find out the backstory and how this day came together, and she said it all started with a chance encounter with Jason's dad, Barry, a couple of years ago.
How Jason Aldean’s Gator Hunt Came Together
"A friend of mine, Kent Roberts from Illinois, is good friends with Jason's dad, Barry. And I had met Barry a couple of years ago in the bar. He and Kent got to talking, and he mentioned that Jason had never killed a gator," explained Liz. "He said, 'Let's line up a gator hunt, but we want to keep it quiet.'"

Fast forward to yesterday, and that gator hunt took place in the basin. Liz told us that they received 10 tags from Governor Jeff Landry (who many know has a camp nearby), and he sent a couple of his friends to help guide the group during the gator hunt. They were able to limit out and harvest 10 alligators.
We wanted to know "who put the biggest gator in the boat?"
"I think Jason killed the biggest one, it was 10'5"," responded Liz.
A 10-Foot Gator and Cajun Cooking
After the hunt, Jason and his crew went over to Liz's house, and she said she had cooked everyone some smothered rabbit, plus crawfish and shrimp etouffee. They hung out, ate, drank, and all were merry.
From the Basin to Red’s Bar
Then at some point, the party got taken over to Red's Levee Bar, where Jason enjoyed some video poker and a beverage or two, and from the looks of social media, held the biggest meet-and-greet in the history of Catahoula.

Fans Confirm Aldean’s Down-to-Earth Vibe
Man, how cool is all this? Liz also confirmed what we all suspected about Jason -- he's a down-to-earth kind of guy.
"He was very friendly, had a good sense of humor, and was very fun to hang around with," Liz concluded about her new pal.
