Another Acadiana area eatery has closed its doors.

According to former employees and The Acadiana Advocate, Grub Burger Bar on Kaliste Saloom Rd in Lafayette has permanently shut down operations.

We first saw the news on social media when one now-former employee of the restaurant posted the following on Twitter.

According to the above post, the employees seemed to be blindsided by the abrupt closure, with little-to-no forewarning.

@bailswbu further commented: "Basically my boss' bosses showed up 10 minutes before we closed last night and told us that we don't have jobs. And apparently, my boss found out HOURS before and she chose not to tell us, and still hasn't checked on any of us. Mind you they came in at 11 pm to do so."

The restaurant's last day of operation appears to have been this past Saturday, April 29.

The franchise location has been in operation since 2014 in Parc Lafayette and for the most part, was a pretty popular eatery.

Grub Burger Bar specialized in gourmet hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, and other favorites.

The closure could have something to do with the fact that the Grub Burger Bar brand was purchased last year by Austin-based Hopdoddy Burger Bar. At the time of the acquisition, the company had 32 restaurants in five states.

Grub Burger Bar had 19 locations in five states when the deal went through.

Thus far, it's unknown if the Lafayette location will reopen as a Hopdoddy Burger Bar. The only other one in Louisiana is located in Shreveport.
