ORIGINAL:

Officials with the Louisiana State Police have reported that there is a fatality on I-10 eastbound after a vehicle caught on fire early Friday morning.

We do not know all of the circumstances surrounding the cause of the fatality or even what caused the fire. What we can say right now, according to WBRZ is that traffic is being diverted off of the I-10 eastbound lanes before the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, due to the crash.

DOTD will be making traffic divert off of I-10 Eastbound onto Interstate 49. If you're trying to get to Baton Rouge, take I-49 Northbound, then once you get to Opelousas look for the turn for 190 Eastbound to get to Baton Rouge.

If you need to get to New Orleans you can take the above route then take I-10 East from Baton Rouge to New Orleans or you can use Highway 90 to get to New Orleans.

The vehicle fire has caused the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge to be closed indefinitely according to WBRZ, and officials are also saying the bridge will need to be inspected at the place of the crash.

This crash happened after midnight Friday morning, and one person is said to be dead because of this situation.
