How Did The Flooding Affect Sugarcane Crops?
I don't know about you, but I noticed that some sugarcane seemed beaten down after the heavy rains that caused the catastrophic flooding last month. I wondered if the rain and flooding meant the crops would be damaged, but it turns out farmers expect a good harvest.
KATC reports that farmers expect 35 - 40 tons per acre, though they say next year's crop that was just planted may be affected by the flooding. They also remind residents to be careful and look out for trucks and tractors on the road as harvesting begins.
