Acadiana Natives Return Home to Provide Free Meals
A family of Acadiana natives, now members of a church in Texas, have returned home to feed people in need in the wake of Hurricane Delta. Today, they are in Abbeville until 1pm.
Bubba and Gypsie Judice, both Acadiana natives, own and operate Cajun On Da Geaux Catering and Food Truck. Now residing in Canyon Lake, Texas, the Judices arrived in Louisiana on Tuesday. So far this week, they have served up 3,500 meals to those affected by Delta. Wednesday they were in Lake Arthur; Thursday they were in Jennings, today it's Abbeville, and tomorrow they may be in Sulpher (Mr. Bubba said "wherever God puts us").
The group is working solely on donations: friends, family members, and other congregants of their church (St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church out of Canyon Lake, Texas) have all chipped in, as well as total strangers. Ms. Gypsie provided her Venmo account for anyone who would like to donate to their mission.
By the way, Mr. Bubba and Mrs. Gypsie fed thousands of people after Hurricanes Harvey and Laura, too.
The Christian Service Center in Abbeville said that the meals will be served from 11am until 1pm today. The center is located at 701 Chevis Street, 4 blocks from J. H. Williams Middle School.
It's always good to see groups get together to help their fellow man; kudos to St. Thomas Church!
