Facebook Event Aimed At Preventing Scams

The interim President and CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Acadiana says that they are very worried about the Coronavirus creating a "Perfect Storm" for scammers to take advantage of people.

Chris Babin, through a press release, says that the BBB of Acadiana will be hosting a free Facebook live event this Wednesday to share details with everyone about how to spot and stop a scammer in their tracks.

Babin says that they believe that people are spending even more time online, and they hope to educate people so that they don't fall prey to scammers. He says there is no shortage of stories from across the country of people being taken advantage of.

He says he will host the event, in conjunction with the Federal Trade Coimmision. They are calling the event, "Avoiding Coronavirus Scams" . It will be held this Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock.

If you are already concerned that you have been scammed, Babin says you can report this to the Better Business Bureau by entering the information into the BBB Scamtracker. You could also consider reporting the incident to the Federal Trade Commission. Get as much information as you can, and always report these incidents to authorities.
