Don’t Do These Things In The Morning
Some people bound out of bed in the morning, ready to face the day. I'm not one of them. Mornings can be hard. The folks at Business Insider say a lot of us make daily mistakes that actually make mornings worse. Here's a list of things they say we shouldn't do...
#1 Hit the snooze. Experts say if you fall back asleep, you'll go into a sleep cycle that will be interrupted, making you feel groggy. I've been broken of this habit over the past 2 years. I live with an early riser. As a result, I usually beat my alarm. It DOES make a difference.
#2 Check email & social media right away. Most folks do. BIG mistake! It ramps up your stress level before your feet even hit the floor. I've cultivated a practice of not doing this 'til I've been up an hour & had at least 2 cups of coffee.
#3 Drink coffee. I'm not so sure about this one. The authors say our levels of the stress hormone cortisol elevate between 8:00 & 9:30 am. My motor won't kick over 'til I've had some "Joe."
#4 Leave your bed unmade. When I lived alone, I rarely made my bed. That's changed. I must confess, it gives a sense of order.
