Carrie Underwood and her 2019 Cry Pretty Tour 360 tourmates used their time on the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year stage to honor some of country music's iconic women. Underwood, Maddie & Tae and Runaway June performed a medley of classic country hits; readers can press play above to watch.

Underwood -- one of the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year -- opened the performance, on a darkened stage, with a brief rendition of Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man." She sang the first few lines of the song a cappella: "Sometimes it's hard to be a woman," she sang, followed by an off-the-cuff "Right? Am I right, ladies?"

"Stand By Your Man" flowed into the chorus of Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" with Maddie & Tae and Runaway June. Maddie & Tae took lead on a short version of the Judd's "Rockin' With the Rhythm of the Rain," while Runaway June led on Faith Hill's "Wild One." Martina McBride's "Independence Day," Reba McEntire's "Why Haven't I Heard From You" and Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" were also featured, before Underwood ended the medley with her own "Cry Pretty."

Underwood, Maddie & Tae and Runaway June will hit the road together in May of 2019. "I’m not throwing anybody a bone by taking them out on tour with me," Underwood says of bringing out an all-female lineup. "They deserve to be there and they’re gonna put on a great show, and I’m already proud of all that they’ve done."

CMT's 2018 Artists of the Year were all women. In addition to Underwood, the country music-focused TV networked honored Artist of a Lifetime Loretta Lynn, plus Miranda LambertKelsea BalleriniMaren MorrisLittle Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman and Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott as their 2018 Artists of the Year. According to CMT Senior Vice President of Music and Talent Leslie Fram, the network's decision to honor all women this year "reflect[s] what's happening right now in culture and in the lives of our fans."
