Cajuns Slip Up Against The Sooners In Game Two Friday
Game two of the day for the Cajuns after they defeated Oregon State 8-0 in five innings in game one, this game they faced the fourth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners.
Summer Ellyson got the start again because she threw just 56 pitches in game one against the Beavers. Unfortunately, she did not fare very well in this game and was lifted with no outs in the second inning and having allowed three runs on two home runs.
The Cajuns had a little bit of early life when Sarah Hudek belted a solo shot of her own to dead center field to pull them within one at 2-1.
In the bottom of the second inning is when the Sooners opened it up as they plated three runs in that inning as Carrie Boswell came into relieve Ellyson. 5-1 OU.
Oklahoma added a pair of runs in the third inning as well off of Boswell as her night was done allowing four runs on five hits over an inning and two thirds as Alison Deville came in for relief. 7-1 Sooners
Deville was able to hold OU off the scoreboard in the fourth but then got into trouble in the fifth as she allowed a run before Casey Dixon was called upon but she couldn't hold the fort. Oklahoma was able to push another run across and they run-ruled Louisiana 9-1.
The Cajuns had a couple of chances in the middle innings with runners in scoring position but couldn't chip away at the Sooners lead.
With the loss, the team falls to 15-3 and Summer Ellyson falls to 9-3.
Louisiana regroups to play Oregon State again tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. and will get another shot at Oklahoma after the conclusion of the game against the Beavers.
