Boudin Festival Will Happen…. Just Later This Year
The Scott Boudin Festival for 2020 had to be cancelled, but the festival will be back for this year, but just a little later than the festivities are usually held.
Many of events in these first few months have already been canceled, including Mardi Gras, but the good news is, the Scott Boudin Festival will happen. The event will just be postponed until September 24 through 26.
The decision was carefully made after many discussions with the Scott Boudin Festival Board of Directors.
Officials say it was a tough decision, but they consulted a variety of sources about the best way to proceed.
They received counsel about how to decide from the following groups:
- US Centers for Disease Control and
- The United State Government
- Louisiana Department of Health
- Scott Boudin Festival Board of Directors
- City of Scott
- Lafayette Parish Government
- Scott Police Department
- Louisiana State Police
The Mayor of Scott, Jan-Scott Richard, says, via press release, that this is something they don't take lightly. They had to consider everyone when making their decision as there are so many volunteers, sponsors and those that come to the festival. Everyone's safety has to be the top priority. Richard says he is hoping everyone will understand the circumstances and be patient as the whole situation is worked out.
Richard says this is a very stressful time, but he encourages everyone to stay safe and to remember to support their local businesses.
He says further updates will be made on their Facebook page.
