Summer is here, and no better time to get out the bicycles and have some outdoor fun with the family! Broussard and David, Bike Lafayette and Lafayette Consolidated Government are sponsoring the 4th annual Bicycle Safety Festival Saturday, June 1st at Parc Putnum. Bring the kids to 813 Lafayette St. in beautiful downtown Lafayette from 9:00 am - noon for live music, refreshments, and lots of giveaways. Activities include bike registration, a bicycle safety course, and a chance to win a free bicycle. Admission is free, and open to all bike enthusiasts.

The festival is in conjunction with the kickoff to the Summer Reading Program at the Lafayette Public Library from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. The theme to the reading program this year is 'A Universe of Stories', honoring the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing. Activities at the main branch of the library, 301 West Congress, include a fun jump, crafts, and lots of family friendly fun from downtown organizations.
