You hear of soldier's remains being found in foreign countries, years after the war is over, being sent home for proper burial.  Some, through DNA, are identified and returned to their families; others never get that closure.  This story is much more recent, from the 1990's.

An Army buddy of mine, Richard Blackwell (we were stationed together in Germany, now I see him at Albertson's from time-to-time) shared this story on Facebook, and I found it important enough to share with you.

In a nutshell, workers at Arlington National Cemetery came across a mass grave that was not marked properly (which prompted an investigation into the practices at ANC).  Inside, there were 8 sets of remains, some of which have since been identified.  One set of remains was in an unmarked urn, along with a photograph (inside a plastic bag).

Army officials were certain that if they can identify the young lady in the photograph, they will find the family of this fallen soldier, and will be able to finally lay him to rest properly.

I Read the story, and then help spread the word.  This afternoon, Nikole Willimason, a KTDY listener, sent us this link, alerting us to the fact that today they identified the young lady in the photograph, and the remains.
